You never fully appreciate just how important giving blood is until you or a loved one comes face to face with cancer. During his illness Chris had numerous transfusions, wither it was blood, platelets, or plasma. We had no idea until then the amount of products that can be gleaned from a pint of blood!
We joined Cookie’s friend Rachel Laird for her Blood Donor Drive just after Christmas, Steven and David donated their first pint of blood on the day…and are waiting to find out if they’re both eligible to donate platelets. We have dropped our trial vein finder unit into the team at the donor centre with a view to donating a unit to them in the future.
