Congratulations to all the seniors at Inverkeithing High School last night who collected their awards for achievements over the last year. We have close links with the High School and are always delighted to be able to support the pupils and staff, and sponsor the ‘To Inspire Others’ award.
Last night Debbie and Louise were delighted to see this years’ winner Nicole Stevenson pick up the trophy. Definitely a worthy winner in inspiring others to achieve…I’m sure you’ll agree…
Nicole has been involved as a performer in Dance and Gymnastics since she was 4 years old. She has dedicated hours and hours of weekly practice over many years. This has resulted in her winning Scottish and British Championships in Gymnastics and Sports Acrobatics. Last year she won the British Trio competition whilst representing her club Acrobay.
With such a level of personal expertise it is very pleasing that Nicole is now using her skills to inspire others.
Last summer she attended Sports Leadership training where she achieved her level 1 and 2 Dance Leadership qualification. She has used this to good effect and has taken a lunchtime Dance club here at IHS throughout the year where S1 and S2 girls have been able to learn new dance steps and motifs. She also on another lunchtime choreographed our school Gym fest team which took first prize at the recent Fife Championships in Glenrothes.
Nicole as a School Sports Ambassador has volunteered during Summer, October and Easter holidays to lead activity sessions with local Primary pupils. She has worked with pupils with different abilities and backgrounds.
Nicole is working towards her UKCC level 1 Gymnastics coaching award at the moment and currently coaches Nursery, P1 and P2’s every Wednesday evening at the Acrobay club and on a Sunday takes a recreational gymnastics class for 5 to 15 year olds on a Sunday.
Nicole has significant personal expertise but spends much time also creating Dance routines and preparing sessions to ensure that she presents inspiring, safe, purposeful and enjoyable sessions to her classes. She is friendly but also has high expectations of her classes.
Congratulations Nicole!
