This year’s cycle challenge was organised by Edinburgh Solicitors firm, Maclay Murray & Spens. The Five Ferries Sponsored Cycle took place on Saturday 30th May with a mixed group of 25 participants fromMMS family and friends and cyclists from #TeamCookie.
The weather was somewhat overcast and blustery when we all met to board the first ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick, spirits were high and most couldn’t wait to board in order to sample the much talked about cooked full breakfast to help set them up for the challenge ahead.
The beginning of the first leg could lull you into a false sense of security as the road was kind to the cyclists until the incline upwards towards Lochranza loomed, and nearly 15 miles of hell followed! This was very much a team event and everyone waited until all cyclists where accounted for before catching the next ferry towards Clonaig. Throughout the day everyone managed to keep pace in order to catch the ferries and thanks to the help and support of both our own support vehicles and also the support vehicles for OYT Scotland we managed to keep everyone hydrated and motivated. A Huge thank you to the guys at OYT for their guidance and expertise.
